This quilt card is made in memory of my Dad who passed away this past February. It was our first Christmas without him. He loved cardinals. We have always had several pair that stay the winter, and this year is no exception. But the difference is, there is one male who always is by himself, perched away from the rest and feeds alone at the feeder. I truly believe this is a sign from my Dad and it makes me feel warm & sad at the same time, but I know he is with our Lord and that is a great comfort to me. So this is his quilt with one lone cardinal on one of the squares. TFL ladies and now we will soon see who I send it off to. Happy New Year!

What a moving story; knowing it will make this pretty quilt extra special for whoever receives it. Those are such great quilt blocks too, so realistic with the stitching.

What a lovely tribute to your father. Cardinals are loved & cherished not only for their color and beautiful melody, but also a spiritual meaning:
The red cardinal bird holds special spiritual meaning for Christians as they symbolize everlasting vitality (the faith in the blood of Christ as the birds are red in color), Christmas (the birth of Christ) and are also considered a creative force (the red color equals vitality and creativity).
He is never too far away. <3
