For todays challenge to celebrate Hans Christian Andersen, I chose this swan to represent The Ugly Duckling, written by Hans Christian Anderson and made more famous by Walt Disney. When I was five I had my tonsils out. My Aunt Effie came to visit me and brought me this book. I loved that story and I love the beauty of swans to this day (we have a lot of them on Cape Cod).

Swans are so beautiful and this one is no exception. What a sweet story about your aunt and the book. I'm sure it made you feel better just reading it. Your sentiment seems so perfect with this image.

I'm glad you have a fond memory from having your tonsils out!! I just remember the awful ether!!! Your swan is wonderful, and I love your framing, as usual.

I very nearly made this exact card this morning! The only thing that stopped me was I don't have a stitched circle die and I wanted my swan to be in a stitched circle not a regular circle. I'm glad you made it, because it is fabulous!! I love swans, too, and I go to a beach in RI that has more swans than they know what to do with. I think they look so cool flying overhead!

Ha - I had my tonsils out when I was five too - the day before my birthday so I suppose technically I was still four, LOL. Priscilla, your swan is just beautiful, and the Serendipity sentiment is great with it. Lots of swans here too, I love watching them.

I have that book, it is one of my favorites too. Super cute swan you have on your card, I really love the softness of the coloring against the bold black. Thank you for creating such a wonderful card and giving us the story behind your inspiration too.

What a beautiful card you have made to represent the Ugly Duckling story- a favorite of mine as well. I love reading how you treasure your aunt bringing this book to you after having your tonsils removed and how it was a favorite book for you. Very neat you have so many swans where you live now. So how appropriate for you to choose this gorgeous swan image! I find the colors you used to be unexpected, and really quick beautiful! The sentiment die is perfect for this card and the story. ~Karen.
