I made this for Rebecca's Milagros Falliday Fest challenge, and also for the current "Anything Goes" with Serendipity Stamps, for which I used their Birdies dies.
Just as well DH has liked a couple of cards I felt "meh" about, because I knew he wouldn't like this one, and that he especially wouldn't like the lace. True on both accounts, and he was disappointed because when he saw the die-cut and embossed heart on my desk last night he really liked it. However - I DO like this one, and the lace really pulled it together for me when I was messing around last night.
The background is another failed attempt at Dina's Acrylic Batik tutorial - but it made a good background anyway. I think I need to try again with a more open stamp design. I stamped and embossed my backgrounder, then scraped paints over it with an old credit card. I used a darker off-cut strip along the bottom of the card.
My "Milagros" heart is cut from a tomato paste tube and embossed while still in the die. I added another heart cut from thin chipboard to give it a little more body, and the strip of lace under it.
The bottom strip of background was backed with a strip of black card with distressed edges, and has a Christmas sentiment also cut from the tomato paste tube.
I finished the card off by adding my little cardinal perched on a branch with holly sprigs (Memory Box) and a few tiny gold stars. The base is a very matt gold card, I added a thin coating of Stickles all round the edge before adding my image panel.

Sabrina, you absolutely hit the big bullseye on this one! Just so perfect in every way. I love the "feel" of this--the dusted background is my favorite.

Gasp! Jaw drop! This card is magnificent in every way! It is so heartwarming to read that your husband is so supportive of the cards you make; however, on this one he missed the mark -big time! No offense to your dh though. It sounds like he has great taste most of the time and that is what counts most. This card is truly a masterpiece and it is going right into my favs! ~Karen.
I love ALL the elements of this - from the metal to the lace. And I loved reading about how you made the heart - so creative :-) I love absolutely everything about this! Thank you so much for playing along with my challenge! Happy Fallidays!
