For Lydia's MIX challenge this week to use the classics - I used Winsor & Newton watercolours for my salted sky and foreground, Inktense pencils for colouring, and a glitter pen and Glossy Accents for details.
Stamped and embossed the duck (another umbrella for the WT challenge) with clear EP on watercolour paper. Liberally wet the sky area and painted with Payne's Grey, then sprinkled with salt. Coloured in the foreground and duck, added Glossy Accents and glitter and went for lunch to let it all dry.
Came to time to finish it, and I was going to use the sentiment about learning to dance in the rain, but then I thought of DH and went with the singing. He had headed out to meet a friend to look for parts for his motorbike. And he ran out of diesel because he refused to stop to fill up last night (we're a one car family, no rescue from me). And he had forgotten his phone, and did pretty well to find a working call box to ring me and ask me to call the friend he was supposed to be meeting. And then it started pouring from the heavens...
I needed some way to frame this panel as it's a one layer card, so I just stamped part of a chickenwire background all round the edge and sponged lightly with black.

You have the best ever collection of umbrella stamps! This is fabulous Sabrina. Thanks for all the details, the salted background look amazing. I especially love how you created the chicken wire border. Pure genius. DH is having a bit of bad luck lately, hope things turn around VERY soon. Xx

Oh, Sabrina, I love his little duck in the rain, and look at those boots - hehe! Love the ducks on them! What a fabulous background, and I also love the salt technique! Ah, poor DH...we hopefully learn from times like that and hope he will fill up again at the proper time. Beautifully and joyfully made! Put a smile on my face! Hugs, sweet friend! xoxo
