The colors this week were muted, and the sketch was uncomplicated, so I felt a sympathy card would be the best approach. I had seen the Embossing Resist technique before (https://goo.gl/xNbIH5) and thought it would be perfect with the muted look I wanted. Simply use Versamark and white embossing powder to create the image that will show through, then I used sponges to apply color in the different areas I wanted to highlight. To make the stamped images even brighter, wipe the entire card down with a tissue afterwards to remove any ink that is on top of the embossed images.
The Tip Top Taupe panel was glued to the Soft Sky card base, then the embossed panel was mounted with Foam Adhesive Strips to raise the panel for added depth to the cards appearance.
The three silver rhinestones were added to increase the "elegance factor" of the card.
The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White with Tip Top Taupe ink from the SU Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, then mounted flush with glue to the embossed panel.
I really feel the muted colors and simply layout makes for a very nice sympathy card.

Donna, I love the way you've combined the two challenges. Your sponging and use of Penny's colors are the perfect mix for this card. Love the subtle tones and the white heat embossing. And, yes, those rhinestones do put the final touch to the elegance factor. Thanks for sharing and joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Wow - what a gorgeous card, Donna! You've really shown off the challenge colours well, with the emboss resist and watercolouring. This is a lovely sympathy card, but would could also be used for birthday or any other occasion. Thanks for playing along with the Watercooler Wednesday challenge - hope to see you again soon! ~Deborah
