This is for Lori's Falliday Fest Challenge to use wheat to make a Thanksgiving card. I had seen this pretty card in Featured Stamper Francie's gallery. When I saw the colors today I wanted to give this a try. I'm also meeting the CAS challenge to go one layer with one image, one sentiment and one type of embellishment. So, I wanted to go one layer so I started with my base and used painter's tape to reverse mask a rectangle. My first try I used a sponge and made such a mess of it that I had to really darken the Strawberry layer. I wrecked that card right at the final step with a HUGE Pink smudge/fingerprint so I tried again. I don't know why I didn't go back to sponging and just go lighter, but instead I went back with the method I'd decided to use on that first attempt-watercolor lifting. Over the dark, brayered ink I stamped the wheat in Versamark and then embossed in clear. With my mask in place, I squirted hand sanitizer over my ink to lift off some of the color and dabbed with toilet paper to pull the color away. I stamped a shadow with Sahara Sand then removed the mask. Unfortunately a bit of the brayering had left some tiny spots so I went ahead and spattered a bit more and then some in Sahara. I scored a frame and then sponged in Sahara again. I inked my sentiment with Versamark then Crumb Cake and embossed in clear again.

Gail,
Both cards with this image are fabulous! I like the darker bg though the best! I kept going back and forth to the cards! The pink paper is just so eye catching!!
