This card was made for a family friend who was recently injured in a horse accident. I decided to use the Friday Free For All Challenge, "Into the Woods", 09/23/16, as an inspiration for the card theme.
The challenge was to "pull out the woodgrain", and what better way to do that than to use SU Hardwood background and build the card around it! I knew that I wanted to add a horse related element to the card, so I pulled out a stamp from my stash from Sutter Enterprises, showing a cowboy on a horse throwing a lasso at some calves. I fully intended to make a more more elegant, refined card, using one of my fancy label dies to cut the shape around the cowboy image. However, fate and my ever inky fingers stepped in to change my plans. Because of nasty ink smear, I wasn't able to do an elegant die cut shape...in frustration, I started ripping the the cardstock around the image, fully intending to toss it when I was done. I opted to do triage on it, adding a soft sponging of wheat colored ink around the edge, before adding it to the card front with dimensionals. To ground the image I added a discarded piece of rather clunky woven twine ribbon. I couldn't figure out a graceful way to finish the ends so I just cut them at an angle, hoping they wouldn't fray too much.
I added the cloud for the way to do the sentiment because I couldn't think of any other way to add words without creating chaos to the card front...that's a heck of way to create a design, isn't it?! Oy!...planned it is not!!!!! Ha....
This was a quick card to put together, if I subtract out all the dithering time and hoooing-and-hummming. You totally understand what I'm saying, right? Please tell me I'm not the only one who expends needless time on deciding whether to add 3 or 4 dots to a bubble sentiment! Sometimes I shake my head in wonderment...
I so appreciate you taking the time to mosey over and peek at my cowboy get well card. Thanks for stopping by!

I hear you! Sometimes I have to walk away from the project for hours just to come back and glue down a dot. :-) I love your card - fits the challenge and the recipient perfectly! I really like that piece of burlap-like ribbon anchoring your rider!
