This is for Papertrey Ink's Make-It-Monday #261 to make a masculine card using florals....presented by Betsy Veldman
I created the wood bg by coating a Kraft panel with Elmer's Glue. When that was dry, I applied gesso in vertical strokes. When that was dry, I added color with reinkers, water and a large scraggly brush. The vertical lines are made with a marker. The mum, leaves and berry branches were watercolored with an aqua brush and reinkers.

This is by far the most realistic weathered wood I have seen and thanks for describing the process! Your watercolored blossom is outstanding! I marvel at the colors in that wood and hope to try this Just gorgeous!

Sallie, this is just wonderful! Your wood BG is amazing and must have such nice texture IRL! I love the masculine type elements, wood and burlap, with the mum!

This is gorgeous, Sallie, and I'm with Nancy that this is one of the most beautiful and realistic weathered wood I've seen. And I love the burlap and beautiful flower! I definitely need to try this wood background technique! Hugs!
