This card was inspired by Linda Hengen's in the June 2005 Rubber Stamper. I was happy with the way it turned out and am saving for my husband for our anniversary.
I inked the ship with brown, then rolled the black onto just the edges and stamped on vellum. After it was dry, I turned the vellum over and used a paint pen to make the sails white. This was sort of fussy, but without it the ship just disappeared on the map. The torn paper and vellum edges are sponged with walnut ink.
I was going to place the little compass with the N pointing at the top of the card, and discovered that I couldn't because it is actually a working compass! It's probably not very accurate, but I was surprised that it worked at all.
