I love using real flowers on my cards and have done quite a few this summer with the hammer technique. For today's challenge I chose a stargazer lily (a little more difficult since the petals are thicker . . . than the typical geranium or daisy I usually use.
Since I don't own a machine to press these through I lay down one petal at a time cover with paper towels and whack the heck out of it with a hammer until the pigment transfers to my cardstock. Interestingly the deep purple spots on the Stargazer transfered as Gray today - you never know how flowers will react to this technique - and that's part of the fun & uniqueness. I inked my saying with a gray marker, framed the piece with black cut with a waved edge and then mounted onto a gray card base.

And after reading that, I am even more glad that I didn't actually have to pound mine but could put it through the BS. I'd never have thought to use a lily - it's really beautiful, Linda.

Linda, You got a much nicer looking lily than I did by running it through a big shot! I love the way your turned out. Now I may sacrifice another of my lilies and do one pounded out! Your card is gorgeous with the postage stamp layer under the flower!
