I let Fox hold the wax crayon so he could write his story in the background on watercolor paper.
"There's this fox, you see. He lived with these animals that were not foxes, and eventually his "brother" coon figured out that he's not truly his brother. So he told him, "You're my brother from another mother, and that makes you family." The end.
Then I gave it a watercolor wash that the crayon resisted, added salt to draw up some of the color, die cut, punched, popped up on foam, and got out the googly eyes, cuz, hey - this story isn't weird enough!
