I have been thinking so much about my mom as we approach the first anniversary of her death September 5th. As I am grieving I think about my aunt who lost not only my mom, her youngest sister, but in the next few months also her 2 remaining brothers and a sister in law. She is now the sole surviving sibling of seven. I can only imagine how she's managing it all....only by her steadfast faith. My mom loved poppies and my aunt has sent me a few things featuring them. I don't really think these are meant to be poppies, but I wanted to try out this new set so I've colored them as poppies. I cut my dictionary page and stamped in Stazon inking only the flowers I wanted for this card. I then took a large acrylic block and scribbled my markers on it and used a wet brush to pick up color for painting. After the bg dried, I used my Pool Party reinker to make some diluted blue to spatter also. I also used Pool Party marker around the edges of the flowers for shading. I used my Cherry and Artichoke markers to add some depth to the flowers using Pointillism dots. I used Gorgeous Grunge spatter stamping on the frame and base. I stamped my sentiment in Memento. I didn't like the angle of my last word so I stamped it again on a piece of dictionary page and notched the end. I notched a piece of Artichoke to put with it. I had already tied the two seam bindings that I crumpled first and had used glue dots to place them on the other corner, but peeled them up and moved them over to the right.

I love your flower painted on the dictionary page!! So pretty!! I am sorry for your aunt and you as you continue to grieve. At least we have the promise of heaven to look forward to. It doesn't mean we don't suffer pain however.

Gail, I'm so sorry you lost your Mom. I know the pain and my heart breaks for you at the first anniversary, which is one of the most difficult! Despite your grieving, you sure made a gorgeous card to let your aunt know you're thinking of her as well! How very thoughtful!!! Great work, Gail!
