This is the first card I have made for quite a few months as my husband recovered from major surgery & it feels so GOOD to be creating again! I have missed cardmaking so much & it was really hard to start again & I had plenty of failed attempts before this card finally came together. I gave this card to my husband for his birthday as he loves old ships :-)
The main image is one of the first stamps I ever bought so probably dates to somewhere around 2008 and is the Bounty ship by Stamperoo (an Australian stamp company). I haven't heard of Stamperoo for a really long time so I doubt you would be able to find it anywhere - however, you could substitute Stampin' Up's The Open Sea as there is an old ship in that set.
I stamped the ship using Ranger Archival Potting Soil ink onto Distress watercolour cardstock and didn't do any colouring other than the red flag at the top which was coloured with a Ranger Festive Berries Distress marker. I used Ranger Distress inks for the sky: Hickory Smoke, Pumice Stone and Stormy Sky - and Faded Jeans, Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce and Stormy Sky for the sea. I used a round ink-blending tool to add Antique Linen around the edges of the image panel to make it look older - a bit like a colourised sepia photograph.
All the designer papers are by Kaisercraft from their Coastal Escape pad. All the papers and cardstock have been edged with Antique Linen.
I used my Lifestyle Nesting Circle dies to diecut the porthole from the woodgrain designer paper then cut multiple portholes from scrap teal-coloured cardstock so I could layer them up to give the porthole some depth. I glued them together with Tombow Mono Multi glue and once dry, poked holes with a paper piercer and added the antique copper brads from my stash.
The side panel kraft cardstock was punched using a Fiskars Threading Water border punch which is one of my all-time favourite punches for masculine cards. I added a score line using a Martha Stewart Scoring board then butted the anchor paper up against that line. I added the Jute Ribbon (Franceville), added Fray Stop to the cut edges to stop them from fraying, then popped the panel up on dimensionals. I tied on the anchor charm from my stash using some string.
The sentiment is by WPlus9 - Basic Banners - and was stamped with my Misti using Versamark Watermark ink and heat-set using Copper embossing powder. I diecut the sentiment using a Spellbinder Labels Trio die then popped the panel up on dimensionals.
All the layers have been trimmed to 1/8" using my Perfect Layers Tools.
Once I finished the card front, I attached it to a white cardstock base. Finished size is 140mm x 140mm or around 5-1/2" x 5-1/2".
Thanks for having a peek at my card! You are very welcome to visit my blog 'Instead of Ironing Blogspot' - this link will take you to my blog post---> http://instead-of-ironing.blogspot.c...hday-card

Simply gorgeous! Love all the texture and special details on this card - especially the porthole you created using multiple layers, topping it with that gorgeous blue Woodgrain. Also admire that you left the ship one color with the exception of the red flag - very cool!
Welcome back to stamping, you did a masterful job with your first-in-a-long-time card. Hope your hubby is doing well, he was blessed to have you by his side! TFS this awesome card!

It's lovely to see a card from you in the gallery again; I trust that means your DH is doing well. And what a super masculine card: I love your framing of the boat image, and the combination of the scalloped edge and hemp ribbon down the edge.
