I made this thank you card for my friend Cathy who dumbster dived (literally) to rescued a TON of Kromekote paper that a printing store was throwing out. She then divided up a large lot of this awesome Kromekote paper and gave it to us lucky lady friends of hers. Wow! I die cut the butterfly from top square panel and set aside. I sprinkled 3 colors of the Color Burst powders all over an 8.5 x 11 sheet of Kromekote paper, then I hold the sheet up and spray with water at the top of the paper to allow the water to run down the page blending the colors. I let this dry and was not happy with the result at all, so I sprayed it with water again to allow more blending to occur and let it dry, with a much better result. This technique is different every time, and it is a loose water coloring technique so I do struggle with the lack of control I love to have (sigh). Once this panel was dry, I held the panel I cut the butterfly out of over the water colored paper until I found a section I liked, then I die cut a square piece out of the water colored paper to fit behind where the butterfly had been die cut out of the top panel. I adhere the water colored paper directly behind the vacated butterfly die cut space on the top panel. Then I adhered just the body of the butterfly to the water colored piece. I shaped the wings with a bone folder so there is some curve and dimension to them. At the last minute, I decided to use a Tim Holtz ruler to add a pierced edge around the top square panel (this would have been much easier to do if I had done this first rather than last). In the end, I was really pleased how this card turned out. The water color piece is actually bolder in real life than what this photo shows.
