Since moving to Charleston, my husband and I have met a lovely couple who surprisingly have criss-crossed our path for many years until now. Jim and Cathy are on staff with our church in Pastoral Care. We hit it off immediately and haven't looked back.
We have been on the Pastoral Care Team from the beginning with them. Now, Jim and Cathy have asked Vance and I to take the out reach ministry at our local Assisted Living Center where we have been providing a full church service for those who cannot attend a regular service outside. Most are wheelchair bound, or use a walker (very slowly). And believe it or not, many are in their 90's! They are dear hearts to be sure. And it is an honor and privilege to serve the Lord in this way.
Last Sunday as we had coffee together after church, Jim and Cathy asked if I would create a Golden Jubilee card for his sister, a Catholic Nun, celebrating 50 years this coming week.
My challenge to the Stamping companies is to design more celebratory stamp sets other than Christmas and Easter. While my hand lettering script is acceptable I didn't want to chance it so I created a computer generated sentiment.
Please keep my husband and I in your prayers if and when we come to mind. When asked by a sweet resident what purpose God has for her now (she is 93), I replied, tell your faith story.
"The shortest distance between a human being and Truth is a story." Jesus, himself, told stories about the most common things in the world: a lost sheep, a seed that falls on rocky ground, a man whose son runs away from home.
All personal theology should begin with the words: Let me tell you a story. ~ Sue Monk Kidd from the book, Firstlight.

Oh yes, I hear you on the more varied sentiments - and the need for a computer! What a beautiful card for your friend's sister, a golden celebration for sure. And what a lovely message you gave to that woman in the Assisted Living Center. My MIL is 91 in two weeks, and I know she is a real prayer warrior especially for her family but also for others that she just hears of, or maybe even just hears a story on the radio and thinks that prayer would help the situation. Never too old to be of value in God's kingdom.

This is SO beautiful, Susie! I've always loved your coloring and this one is no exception! It would be hard to find stamps for this occasion but you succeeded so perfectly! Beautiful narrative too!

I was looking through SCS website for a Jubilee card and I found yours. My Aunt Lucille is going to celebrate her 70th Jubilee as a nun next week and was looking for an idea. I may have to do a computer sentament as well because they still don't have one that works.
