Since I had some pre-coloured images on hand, I ended up making two cards for Polly's fun MIX182 challenge today. I don't know how close this comes to mimicking gold leafing, but I was certainly inspired by reading her challenge so I'm going with uploading it. She suggested paints as one possibility, so I embossed a piece of plain white card and then brushed it with gold acrylic paint. When it was dry, I rubbed in some Craft-T luster rub-ons, and used fixative to seal it. Both the gold layer and the image are matted on black...and then I got a tiny smudge of black so I added the sentiment as the least distracting way of covering it up. I used a Spectrum Noir glitter pen to add sparkle to all the little blue dots on the image panel.

This certainly fits the bill for gold leafing...the bright gold frame is like gold leafing in illuminated books. I think the embossing on it gives an extra elegance. It really shows off your beautifully colored tulips. Looks like you had fun today!

Wow, that frame is fantastic! Love the embossing and black matting. Sweet image as well, and the sentiment looks terrific!

I love this, Sabrina. Your hand made gold bg is so much prettier than anything you could buy...really stunning. The tulip image is so cheerful, and the sentiment is perfect ( even if it was to cover up a smudge). Into my favs.
