The quote says "Creativity takes courage" and for those of you who haven't tried Mixed Media it may take some courage but...I know you can do it and you'll probably have fun trying this technique. I experimented with foil to try to make a faux gold leaf... see this post for instructions. My bg was the one that Maura (beesmom) had used on one of her cards using a credit card and acrylic paint. It's really fun and can be seen demonstrated by Kim Dellow. I love the way my bg turned out...it's sort of a modern contrast to the vintage portrait and frame.

That frame is amazing, Polly! Funny, I was thinking I hadn't used my RubberRomance Sophia image in a while, and when I read your challenge I was thinking of pulling her out and framing her. And I was thinking of lots of texture like old gilt frames. I'm glad I didn't try, I could never have come up with such a wonderful frame as yours. Great background too - yes, I too like the contrast of the modern with the vintage.

This is gorgeous Polly!! The gold leaf that is under your portrait is so pretty and uniquely done. I love your bg too!! The colors are awesome. I love the way you pulled the purple out by using that for your sentiment banner. You are very artistic. :>)

A perfect way to use your faux gold leaf technique, Polly....as a gilt frame for a work of art....just like we would see in a museum. Loved your technique for today....really innovative....and FUN!!
