With all the bad things happening in the world these past few weeks, I decided today would be a good day to play around with Christmas card ideas. I don't want to take a lot of time away from my 2016 Send a Smile challenge, so will still be purchasing (eek!) most cards this year, but wanted something fairly simple that I could make for the shut-ins at my church.
This is the sample card I came up with. It SHOULD be even quicker to make when I use my MISTI for the stamping.
Used the MFT in/out stitched square die to make my gold frame. Then cut white cardstock panel to inlay into the opening.
Stamped the poinsettia with SU Purely Pomegranate an the sentiment with Delicata Gold. Heat set sentiment. Used Copic marker YR23 to color some of the flower center. Went over the flower petals with Wink of Stella and added glossy accents on the colored portion of the flower center. Attached to card base.
Thanks to Ardyth for inspiring me to make this card. I LOVED the poinsettia card she posted this week and, truth be told, had thought I would CASE the card. But in the end, my creative muse decided so go a different direction. However, I still kept the small, bold poinsettia with a simple sentiment. I just changed the layout, darkened my flower and opted for a smaller gold sentiment. In any case, thanks, Ardyth, for the inspiration!

Just beautiful, Debbie! I have to ask though, how on earth did you get the beautiful gold in the stitched die cut? What an amazing effect! Love the small poinsettia and the gorgeous framing you always do!
