I checked out the mix challenge for the first time and when I saw Polly was hosting for the first time I had to do it. I guess this is a first for both of us. It was a great challenge too. I made this with some red tissue paper that actually came wrapped around fruit. I liked the paper so I stamped it in versamark with the weathered background stamp and embossed in gold. I stamped it up and down and sideways. then I sprayed it with gold shimmer mist. That takes care of my two different mediums. It is hard to see, but I promise it is there. Then I glued it down to card stock. All of the black die cuts are spellbinders except for the frame. It came from elegant edges cricut cart. I run the frame through my cuttle bug with the swiss dot folder and then I went over all the dots with a gold gel pen. I used a little gold vellum for the sentiment and the to layer the flower with in the bottom corner of the frame. The birds wings were embossed 3 times. I just kept adding the powder while it was still hot. I put it all together and last of all I added little accents everywhere with my gold gel pen. I actually made this Friday, but I am just now getting the time to load it!
Thanks for taking a peek!

Geni so glad you decided to take a chance and do a MIX challenge! I think you'll be hooked. This is very artistic with that weathered gold bg...so interesting. I love the framing of yor bird and the little gold dots on it are the perfect touch. Love the bird, too!

Love the bird and what a great background you made. I'm thinking you may now be hooked on mixed media.
