A card for Stamp to Spend challenge (S2S16S) this week, showing the qualities of our mothers. My mom was born and raised in the Netherlands and came to Canada in 1947 with one her husband and one child. She never learned to speak English very well, but knew enough to converse with merchants and neighbours. She lived on a dairy farm and in the early days, before my brothers were old enough, she helped milk the cows( note the lone cow). She never learned to drive, and rode her bicycle everywhere, even into her early 80's. And she loved gardening. Except for the bicycle, one stamp set was perfect for this whole scenario. The whole windmill scene was stamped and then coloured with copics. I then hand drew in the land part in the front, coloured it with green and then stamped the grass border from the stamp set, then added two die cut fences and stamped the flowers from the set in the right hand corner. I stamped the tandem bicycle, coloured it and fussy cut it before adhering it in front of the fence. Die cut seagulls finish this off and I have left out a sentiment, as I don't know the occasion it will be used for.
