My FIRST Bird Crazy card, even though I've had them since they came out. I have to admit I've been intimidated by all the fabulous Bird Crazy cards in the galleries.
This is for my grandson Levi, who is turning six. He's quite the character; I think he'll like this.
I picked my background paper first (totally opposite of what I usually do), and colored the bird to coordinate. I used the matching die to cut him out, but ended up doing some fussy cutting to get rid of residual white edges. I added glaze to his eyes and beak for shine.
He's standing on one of the packages from the Sizzix/TH steel rule die Packages and Bows. I cut it twice, from orange and blue cs, and cut the top from the blue one to add to the orange present. The bow is from a set by Elizabeth Craft Designs. I added shading with a fine tip black Gel pen in an attempt to mimic the sketchy style of the stamp. I glued the birds feet to the present, turned him over and applied craft foam for dimension. After assembling the card base, I attached the bird/present, added the bow and popped up sentiment.
As always, thanks for looking!

This is totally cool...perfect for a 6 year old boy. The whole card has such a dynamic, 3D feel. I love how the present turned out. That bg paper is perfect, and I love the color combo. Your grandson must adore getting your handmade cards....I hope someone has a keepsake box for him. If not, I know a very young looking grandma who makes amazing "faux metal" boxes - that would be you.

Grin! Fabulous coloring and background and shading with a black gel pen which is the bravest thing I've seen anyone do. That box looks SO dimensional! And you cut out the feet? WOW! I bow to you for that one!

Perfect bright colors for a 6 yr. old boy, and won't he get a chuckle out of your card - those birds tend to do that - make everyone laugh when they spot them on a card - glad you finally got to use one! LOVE the background paper - and how it signaled you with the colors to go with!! That present looks fabulous too!!
