I masked the watercolor card with masking tape before starting to sponge the scene - wanted to get a 'painting' look.
After sponging in the sky, then the hills, I masked them with sticky notes & swiped the blue ink pad across the panel for water.
Then I added the trees, windmill, deer, flowers and lastly the butterfly. Added in shadows with distress markers. Colored the butterfly with pencils. White gel pen details.
For the NO LAYERS Technique lovers challenge...and thanks to the terrific ladies leaving and awesome hello to the new girls hosting this challenge.

What a beautiful scene - peaceful, tranquil and totally amazing. I don't know which of the details I like best - the trees, the delicate flowers or the deer.

OH WOW!!! This is spectacular. I would love to be there right now. Your idea to put the butterfly prominently in the foreground gives your scene so much depth.
