The Brayered Sunny Sky challenge is certain to produce marvelous skies, sunrises and sunsets. I had high hopes and thank you, berlycece. I popped over to see the Zindorf technique...so simple she makes it seem. Well, I have a heavy hand and had a mess after my first brayer pass...then I tried to rescue it with sponging...nothing I was doing was giving me one of those ethereal skies so many of you do so well. The more I sponged, the further it got away.
That's when I decided to turn it on it's side, dig out the creativity sentiment and 'save' my card. Only my base was still wet from all the inks and the sea foam white ep stuck to not only the sentiment, but also the right half of the bg. I added the wonderful Graphic 45 'Endless Spring' fan to draw the eyes away from the hot mess and not really brayered sky. Since I was already piling on...the pretty lilac mulberry paper and the staples.
I did have fun, Kim. And it is sorta a moonless night sky. Thanks for the challenge...I think I need brayering lessons.

I think you have a rolling tropical storm coming towards the beach there Susan! I love the wind picking up that umbrella too! ...and isn't that blowing sand (or maybe snow?) :-) I raise my mug of coffee to your creativity and wish I had your courage to make a mess! I love this card!

Brayering is definitely not as easy at looks - I usually end up with at least a couple of rejects to be upcycled into something else every time I try it - so you are in good company, Susan. Not that I upcycle as creatively as this - what a perfect sentiment to use! I think my fails from Kim's challenge this time, one went as a layering mat for another challenge, and one was used a couple of weeks ago in a small window scene. Love that Japanese parasol - perfect for extra shade on your palmy beach.

I love your card!! The layers of color are just so exciting! No two stampers are the same and the outcome you achieved is a gorgeous work of art!! That wonderful sentiment and beautiful umbrella sure were great finishing touches!!

I really like the finished project! I must say, the sentiment is what holds it all together. Yes, it's sideways; yes the sky is dark...but that IS the fruit of your creativity! I had 2 background rejects which I have not thrown away. I think I will turn them into something after all. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is fantastic, and to think it started as a "fail!" I think Ann (Dockside) is right, there's a tropical storm coming. The happy accident of the excess embossing powder looks like sea spray and I love your windblown umbrella.
Here's to saves, marvelous opportunities for creativity

I like the colors- the grey toned BG is relaxing and soothing instead of bright. The mulberry paper is delightful.

I totally, totally LOVE this. Sometimes we achieve a true work of art in spite of ourselves! What you accomplished is the very definition of your sentiment.
Take a step back and forget you made this card. Look at it with a fresh set of eyes. Everything you thought turned out wrong, wrong, wrong turned out beautifully right, right, right!
A creative genius was at work here; she just doesn't realize it yet.
