There is so much to tell you about this card. (My friend Pam's and my extra challenges: Steampunk, metallic rub, sketch flipped, and added metal) I used a Layers of color butterfly stamp that I have had since 2009. I used black stazon ink to stamp it 10 times on a piece of brown cardstock. I fussy cut the butterflies. I flipped the first butterfly over and drew panels for pockets on each wing. I cut those out and traced those on the backs of the other butterflies as well. I then cut the rest of those panels out. (Did you figure out this took me a long time to make?) I then glued all the butterflies on top of eachother. In the left side pockets I glued quilled roses, on the right side pockets, I adhered little metallic gears with brads. I had gold netting ribbon that my friend Terri had sent me, but it was too gold. I distressed it with black stazon ink. It still looks gold, just more subtle. I used black paper that has a handmade feel to it. Pam gave it to me so I don't know if it was handmade or not. I had gold embossed dots on it. I layered two of the black papers and went around each edge with inka gold metallic rub. I knew I wanted to make a trail to show the butterfly's movement. I took hot glue and made drops of glue onto a piece of aluminum foil. When the glue had cooled, I painted the glue drops with black fingernail polish that I bought for crafting purposes. When the polish was dry I rubbed inka gold metallic rub over the tops. I peeled them off of the foil and glued them to my card using Aleene's tacky glue. I had the paper out from yesterday's color challenge. Lots of dots for dessert. The flowers might be a little off from the color challenge tangerine color but I think they are pretty close. If not, challenge police, give me a break, pretty please. If you would like to see up close photos of the butterfly check out this post on MY BLOG.

OMG, Marilynn, well I did say the other day how brilliant you are when it comes to mixed media - whoa! Your butterflies must have taken forever to create but what a stunning result. Love the netting, papers and butterfly trail - a truly wonderful creation!
