This is another of my Paper Mojo buys. It's called Teal, Pink and Yellow Antique Spot. I could spend days dreaming on their website. Anyway...the minute I saw it, the word Seahorse drifted through my mind. Had to get this paper. BUT, even with this gorgeous bubbly paper in hand, I found out I actually didn't have a seahorse. Looked through all my Stuff: stamps, stickers, rub-ons, dies....nothing. That took awhile. Although I have been non-aggressively cleaning and organizing my stamp room, I have not nitty-grittied it yet. In other words it was a jumbled mess...but in designated heaps. Realized I'd have to scour the internet for the "perfect" seahorse to show off this exciting paper. It can get a little tedious being a semi-perfectionist. This however doesn't spill over into all areas of my life...just ask my DH. After several days of surfing the web (how sea-related does that sound!) I decided that Tim Holtz seemed to fit the bill. Went to my BFF Joann and found Tim's dies just happened to be on sale. Hurrah! (Hate not being able to use the coupons on the dies, etc.). Got it home, walked into my stamp room and immediately eyed what I thought might be the perfect paper to use for the seahorse die. Well, I think it worked. I'm happy with the way it looks. Put it on the paper, raised with foam tape, and had another one of those "now what?" moments. It was in great need of Something Else. What??? What's under the sea??? Fish! Nah. That would take away from the seahorse which I was getting to like more and more. Slimy things, snails, treasure. Snails! I don't have snails, but I do have their little homes! Shells! I have tons of wee little shells. Done. Threw a few on the card. Eh! Still needs Something Else. What??? What else is under the sea? Slimy seaweed (ick), coral. Coral! I have a coral stamp. Went to get it. Didn't look right. Wouldn't show up enough. This card was slowly edging up to the $45 bracket and I didn't want to spend anymore on What-Elses. Set the wee brain to work. In the process I remembered the Impression Obsession Tree and with a smile cut out 2 tree dies, lopped off their trunks and stuck them one on top of the other offset to make some dimensional coral. Done, and done. Thanks for looking...and listening to my babblings.

Ms Ellen, has anyone told you that you have a persuasion toward humorous writing? I love reading your narratives. There almost as great as your cards. I am so sorry you found yourself inching up to the $45. mark with do dads and whatnots. That's a hefty price but when you get up to the $60 ++ per card I average, you'd realize you're getting away with making a card rather cheaply I must say. Yes, that's some great paper you've got there, girl. Wonderful elements. You unleashed that creativity today, which is always a great thing. C'mon back tomorrow. use your scraps from today so tomorrow's card might hover around $35. Now that's not really a whole lotta money when one is rotten rich. Hugs

I'm convinced you're rotten rich now. I just went to that site and ... holy smokes, girl ... They do have some beautiful papers, but the prices were enough to scare me away. I didn't dare check out their shipping costs. I'd need a 2nd job for that stuff. Yikes.

Anne, Anne, Anne...I'm definitely not rolling in dough! I wish! I decided long ago that my paper addiction will be fully funded by whatever gift money comes my way. Some of the paper on that website costs good money, but I found that if I just buy one or two of the samples (5"x8") of ones I REALLY like I can get 3 to 4 cards made from them. Plus, I've had the inner pleasure of putting my spin on them and I don't have to be just looking at them on the website and drooling and wishing. The shipping cost is high. Their packaging is excellent, however, and you never have to worry about any damage during shipping. I appreciate that. I know how it is when I buy individual sheets of paper and bring them home in a regulation plastic bag from the retail store. Depending on the day I'm having they may look like an origami project by the time I pull them out of the bag at home. But, you know, sometimes you just have to do something good for yourself that just makes you wiggle your toes and get a big smile! Something to relieve some of the cares of the day. And...I get to share them with others, and maybe those papers, plus a few do-dads and what-nots, will bring another smile into this world on someone else's face. Worth it! The $45?....you know you should always figure cost of labor and all materials and incidentals into the value of a card...which includes sweat (including dry cleaning for sweat stained garments), tears (including cost of tissues to dry tears), brain strain damage (doctor's fees, plus MRI's), stress from lack of a MISTI (shrink doctor fees, reflective cruises to the Bahama's or Alaska). It's not easy creating cards these days! Relax and Enjoy a little, Anne.
Love your beautiful card. Your creative descriptions of your card making process is a great way to start the day. Using tops of trees for coral is inspired for sure. tyfs

I'm impressed! Such beautiful paper....I had to take a look at that site. Wow and gulp! You certainly didn't waste the paper but created a beautiful card with it. Love the seahorse, your creative coral, and pretty shells. Amazing card!!!

You're so much ahead of me in the card making stuff. I didn't know you could get sample of what you like. I still think $12.95 is pretty steep for shipping though. You're right: some days when I bring things home from my LSS, it looks like a bomb had exploded inside the regulation bag, as you call it. I deleted the site but who knows, I may end up going back to it to revisit my thought process. Hugs, Anne

Oh, Ellen, oh my! This is absolutely gorgeous, and I just got great delight at reading your post and description! It's a joy to read it, sweet friend, and it was also a giggle reading Anne's comments and yours back - haha! You are so adorable (as is sweet Anne), and I just love all the banter we do as dear friends from afar. However, as my DD sis Susie would say, I digress. I LOVE this beautiful paper and have spent some money myself on some specialty paper over on the west coast of FL when we were vacationing a few years ago. It was a stamp store, and she had the most beautiful papers in large sheets. They are from Kartos Italy with gold embossing, and they are so beautiful. I've made a couple of cards with them, and I am careful how I use it and store it. But again, I digress. Haha! I love this seahorse and the beautiful shells, and it was genius of you to come across the IO die for the tree. It's perfect for coral, and having been to Key West and done some snorkeling, I've seen real coral, and it's gorgeous. And seahorses do love it! Beautifully done again, sweet friend, and thanks for the joy of both seeing your card and reading your journey! (P. S. My craft stamp is in great need of reorganizing, and I've been in the midst of it for a while, and it has caused me to struggle to find things. Ah!)
