This is my valentine for DH. It's my poor effort at applying some of the techniques demonstrated in the OCC intermediate class of Watercolor for Cardmakers. The class was outstanding, my abilities - not so much.
After stamping the image with the help of my MISTI, I embossed with clear ep and started adding watercolor. I really wasn't pleased with it, so , as usual, I applied a layer or two of thin gesso. Much better!
I ironed off the embossing and applied white pigment ink through a stencil I made by die cutting different sizes of hearts from a sheet of thin acrylic. I die cut the sentiment from the image, and cut four more from watercolor paper. The die cut words were stacked using a MS ballpoint glue pen.
The focal panel was cut with a stitched rectangle die and lined with double-sided adhesive before adhering to the card base. The stacked sentiment was placed onto the exposed adhesive and left under a couple of books for a while to be sure it adhered well.
As always, thanks for looking!

Poor effort? It's GORGEOUS! Are you kidding me and you make your own stencil? I'm SO ready to learn! You do work magic with gesso and this is one of them! Fabulous!

Love the softness the gesso gave this already great "collage" of hearts, and how you did a mock up of the bokeh technique with your homemade heart stencil - awesome idea, and I know your DH will appreciate all the extra effort to make this so special!!
