I stamped the rose on watercolor paper, wet it, and then painted with instant coffee. I was not thrilled with the result, so I spritzed the top of the rose heavily with water and let it drip. The coffee completely washed away from the top. I added more coffee to the bottom to make it darker and then dried it. I decided to add some color, so I painted the top of the rose with mustard seed and abandoned coral distress inks. I really like the result, like an old sepia photo being retouched with color, or dirt being washed off the rose. I thought hope was an appropriate sentiment.

Have always loved that stamp set...and I love how the colors fade into the brown - just the brown a peace rose turns as it looses it's blush...perfect.
