I started with the hardwood background, stamping off once for a lighter woodgrain. Next I stamped and colored the branches, then embossed it. Wasn't paying attention and ran it thru backwards, but after sponging around the edges, I really like the effect. The bird was stamped, colored then fussy cut before popping on the card. Used my MISTI for the sentiment, added a ribbon and layered on Mossy Meadow cardstock.
This was a hard card to make... it's for a dear friend who is terminally ill.

Mrs. Broom, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. For me, losing friends has been more difficult than losing family. It's like those I've lost know more about me than my family. Friends are the flowers in our gardens. This is a beautifully crafted card and yes, I like the effect of running it backwards. Funny how mistakes can often look better than we intended. Everything is colored so well, Hilda. I am certain your card will bring tears to your friend. It's beautiful.

Gorgeous! Love your background with the subtle hardwood stamp and the sponged embossed edges. Your bird is fabulous! Such a beautiful card. It will comfort your friend. Very nicely done. TFS
