Monotropa Uniflora L. - Death Plant - Dutchman's Pipe - Indian Pipe - Corpse Plant - Fairie's Smoke - Ghost Flower - American Ice Plant - Wax Plant - The Bird's Nest - Eyebright - Convulsion Weed - Fit Root - Epiparisite - Mychoheterophyte
This FLOWER has no chlorophyll, hence the ghostly white appearance. It actually feeds off of fungi that in turn feed off of specific trees. It only blooms for about one week and if picked or when dead it quickly wilts and turns black. Most of the names are easy to get at, a few are scientific, and two are based on its past medicinal applications to treat convulsions/epilepsy and as an eyewash.
The bow was made from a thin strip of regular kitchen plastic wrap that I pounced with the alcohol inks. Photo edges are distressed with the Tonic Paper Distressor tool.
