I made this card for an Impression Obsession blog feature... these are my stamp designs and it was fun to use a variety of techniques to make this look 'work'.
I began by creating a mask for the hill with a curved die from a set called Hill Landscape Layers. I masked the hill, then used PanPastels to add color to the upper portion of a piece of black cardstock.
I used my MISTI to stamp the children, knowing I'd need to reink several times for a deep black impression. To create the shadows, I stamped the image onto a piece of acetate, then rubbed the ink onto the cardstock by burnishing with my fingers. This creates a reverse image and it's so easy to position with the clear sheet.
I replaced my masks, and used a splatter brush to add some stars to the sky (I used the clear stamp as a mask - that worked really well, and cleaned easily under running water.) I stamped and embossed the star using Stampendous Detail White powder.
I used a Derwent Coloursoft pencil to add highlights to the stamped image and to the hill. The extra lighting on the hill was a happy accident - I used a Copic blender pen to try to smooth some details, and it ended up removing color from the cardstock.

Dini, this is so beautiful, and totally touched my heart. Your creation is a work of art, and the sentiment is so perfect. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Love the children, Dini. I have a stencil similar to this. The "hill" is the "world" and that ties in with the sentiment.
It's lovely and your highlights from the star are spot on.
