Talk about timely challenges! This card & mason jar gift set were made for the Technique Lovers Challenge, TLC565 - Wrapping Up Christmas - 12/21/15 and the Way to Use It Challenge, WT562 - Bring on the Bling - 12/17/15.
The Technique Lovers Challenge was to use a bow of any kind on your project and the Ways to Use it Challenge was to add shimmer and sparkle to your card.
After making the mason jar scene as a gift for a dear neighbor, I decided it needed a custom card to go with it. The mason jar scene on the card is a combination of two new stamp sets. The Mason jar is from a Hero Arts Winter Scene Christmas set and the tiny village scene is from Twinkle Town by Mama Elephant. It was a happy coincidence that the tiny village scene fit perfectly inside the Mason jar scene. I did the happy dance when I discovered this! I colored the scene on the card to match the colors in the paper mache church in the real Mason jar.
My very favorite thing about this card is the German glass glitter that I used as snow on the village scene. It look so amazingly COOL in real life! I received the imported glass glitter as a freebie "thank you" from Meyer-Imports when I ordered some colored wood flakes. Long story short, I sent a note to the company complimenting them on their wood flakes and telling them about SCS. They surprised me with a set of German glass glitter. So kind of them!
Anyway, back to the story about using the glitter. I also ordered from Meyer-Imports as special glue they have for glass glitter & wood flakes. It's called Craft Tac Glue. It is a white glue that dries clear and is thinner than I was expecting it to be. And it works like magic on holding glass glitter. Not one flake of glitter fell off after gluing - not a single flake!!!! It may have been a combination of the glue and the way I applied the glitter.
Here's how I adhered the coarse glass glitter to the image on the already die cut tag: using a wood coffee stick, I carefully smeared some of the glue on the image where I wanted the snow. I sprinkled a liberal amount of the glitter on the glue and gently pressed a piece of scrap card stock onto the glue and glitter, and then gently tapped the excess glitter off the card. Then I left it to dry overnight without touching it. The next morning the glitter was firmly attached and no particles fell off when I attached it to the card.

If you are wondering about the stuff I used to make the real Mason jar. Here's the deets on it:
The jar was from the dollar bin at Target, the sparkly paper mache church with the trees was an ornament from JoAnns's, the snow was Martha Stewart faux snow glitter, and the red/white bakers twine and jute twine on the jar top were both from Michaels now-1.50 bin.
Thank for stopping by to look at my Twinkle Town Duo. Merry Christmas to you and happy crafting, too!

Wow!! What a cute Christmas scene in a jar and what an amazing custom card to do with it. I love all the details on both. The two jars match so well and the churches look almost identical. Awesome! Very timely challenges. Love the look of the twine on both. Great job! TFS

What a cute idea. The mason jar village is a great gift. Love the card - these would make the cutest Christmas tags also. The wood grain kraft paper is wonderful.
I really appreciate your taking the time to share the how to and what the products are. I love to read about this stuff and how it was created.
