IÂ’m your hostess this week, and I chose Christmas as the dessert option to help you and me make progress on our Christmas cards, although IÂ’m sure some of you are all done for this year!
Our colors are Hello Honey, Rose Red and Garden Green. I used this adorable Little Elf Mim, a digi from Mo Manning, as the focal point on my card.
I tried a new-to-me technique with a new product, a masking pen called Molotow. Following instructions on a Jennifer McGuire video, I printed out the image and covered it with the masking fluid. Then I used a blending tool and some So Saffron ink to sponge a yellow background out from the figure. When that was done, I removed the masking fluid with a white eraser, and then colored with Copic Markers. I should note that the masking and removing process left the cardstock rippled and a little rough, but it colored just fine anyway. I used a touch of gold pen on the top of the ornament and the bells on her toes, and some stickles on the trim on her hat and dress.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week.

Great use of that technique to get a great bg behind your adorable image, Barbara! I have been wanting to try that technique, but haven't gotten to it yet. Your card is inspiring me....

Fantastic sample for your color challenge, Barbara. The little elf is so fun loving swinging on the ornament. Coloring is great, and the added bling gives it a wonderful festive feel to the card. TFS

What a darling image on your beautifully colored and embellished holiday card! I love that masking pen and use it for most of my masking with water coloring, etc.

Sweet image, nicely colored card! Love the sparkly Stickles! Glad to know about your experience with masking fluid. I have seen Heather Telford use masking fluid on her amazing cards. Here is a link to one of her blog posts with a short video. She uses her fingers to rub it off rather than an eraser.
