This is for Janelle's fun mixed media challenge "In Abundance" with the intent on organised abundance - my take on the challenge is to use the entire A4 piece of cardstock and lots of stencils, various stamps and the same sentiment on each card to imply organised abundance....I hope.
A4 paper/cardstock size in Australia measures app 8.3" x 11.7" almost the same as US letter size 8.5" x 11. I did not cut the A4 sheet until the background colour was done.
Start by squirting Dylusions ink spray onto large piece of aluminium, spritz with water, dunk cardstock in inky puddle. Move around until you have the desired effect. Partially dry. Next medium is Distress ink - smack Evergreen bough, Cracked pistachio and Peacock feather onto the al foil, squirt on a LOT of water and once again swish and press the cardstock into the inky puddle. Dry.
Do the same smack, squirt and dunk thing with a few drops of Izink and a bucket load of water - at this point I was not looking for more colour, but more the shimmery effect that Izinks give.
WARNING: If you haven't used your Izinks in a while, not only will the eye dropper have seized up, but the lid will be super hard to undo. Running under a hot tap would probably solve this problem....banging it on the side of your craft desk gets the bottle open, unfortunately it also causes the glass bottle to break at the neck. On the plus side, the ink is so thick and gunky that nothing dripped on the floor.
Once cardstock is dry, cut one side panel 4" wide - this is for the long tall card. Cut another 4" wide panel, then cut this panel into 4" squares, these make the 2 square cards. The left over panel makes an A5 card and a little gift card.
Next step was to use various stencils along with white Dylusions acrylic paint, applied with a stippling brush. The birds were stenciled using a sponge dauber and diluted distress inks.
Final step is to add the stamped images and sentiment. This is where MISTI is invaluable - all the work that has gone into the background is so easily wasted if the stamping doesn't work or look right.
Taking one card at a time, I put the card in MISTI, laid a large piece of acetate on the card and then stamped images to see if the card looked balanced - if I wasn't happy, simply wipe the ink from the acetate and start again.
All cards are stamped with the same sentiment as they are going in my local HYCCT stash.
Thank you for looking.

Not only would I just LOVE to sit there and watch you do this, I'd love to shop with you for those awesome background stamps you use! LOVE these, Susie! I have never seen a stencil with your signature long-legged birds but sure do love these! Those are fantastic backgrounds you created!
Laughing about the Izinks too! WHO in there infinite wisdom thought to put an eyedropper in that thick stuff! Mine were clogged when I got them.

Oh WOW Susie - an abundance of cards and super ideas. Recognised this straight away - because of the long legged birds - definitely your signature. You will have to let me know where you send your HYCCT cards (locally) - too expensive to send them overseas. Just bought my Christmas stamps for overseas - had to mortgage the MISTI. he he
Thank you for sharing your abundance of beautiful cards. There were certainly an abundance of steps to create the gorgeous backgrounds. I like how you used the MISI not only to get good clean images but to audition the layout of the stamps.

Beautiful Susie!! I love your bg and (I'll have to remember the Izinks tip!) all the inks, paint and stencils you used, gorgeous!
I love the birds in the basically same colors as the bg too, it has such a cool look to it! And what a great idea to stamp a bunch of the stamps you think you want to use onto acetate over your card for placement and to check it out first. I really should do that extra step as I have ruined some bgs because it did not have the desired look once I was done!
I love all the cards you made from one bg. You are a genius Susie!
