One of my cards for the October CCC challenge - our theme is birds.
This card wasn't supposed to be a shaker card. There is a lovely scene in the background with lovely snowbanks and three different levels of dimension. the problem developed when I added the frame with the birch trees attached. The paper wasn't stiff enough not to sag, and I couldn't build deep enough support in tiny enough pieces to hold them level. I had spent lots of time on this and was just sick that my original plan wasn't working. The only way I could see to support the birch trees was to use acetate behind the frame. And I thought if I was going to use acetate I might as well make a shaker out of it.
I removed the trees from the original frame, put in the shaker material (too much, as usual), and added another frame with acetate attached on the back side. I cut another set of birch trees and attached them to the acetate and the edges of the frame. That looked pretty good, but there was kind of a bare spot so I added the deer. Then of course he needed a snowbank to ground him. Then I decided a snowbank just spilling across the bottom of the frame looked pretty silly, and added some more trees. This thing weighs as much as a quarter-pounder, I swear, but at least I'm pretty happy with it. The photograph is not so great, I couldn't get away from the glare off the acetate. But you get the picture, LOL!
As always, thanks for looking!
