Emily asked us to 'make a masterpiece'. I chose Claude Monet Impression Sunrise, seen here. I am lucky enough to live near Cleveland & the CMA is featuring 'Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse'. The centerpiece is Monet's huge "Grande Decorations" - three 6-foot-tall paintings more commonly known as the "Waterlilies." It is the first time in 30 years they've been united in one exhibit. Quote, the News-Hearald article here. This is the reason I chose Monet & of course, not being a 'master' I needed something I could make my own. I did try a watercolor, but it's in the trash - just where it belongs! This second try is much better & more pleasing to my eye. I also looked for a Matisse that my grandson painted in art class in 4th grade when they did a 'talking' art exhibit. It was amazing - Brian was painted 'into' the painting & his partner was Matisse. I didn't find the right one.
Anyway, this is my entry for Emily's challenge.
I masked out the horizon lines on this stamp. If you know who makes it let me know & I will add that info. The entire background is sponged.
Thanks for stopping by.

Awesome! Your sponged sky and sea are just amazing. I wish I could sponge half that good. Your composition is wonderful. The silhouette image is perfect for this sponged background and I like how you positioned the sun behind the person's head. No worries about the first water colored piece, use it to punch out shapes or die-cut frames for future artwork. Thanks for supporting HYCCT with this beautiful art-inspired card.
