They say that art often imitates life. I was inspired by a story in the news recently about a wealthy American dentist who killed a beloved Lion in Africa. If you are an animal lover like me, you will be familiar with the story. All one needs to do is do is a Google search for Cecil The Lion Killer. The search results are not for the faint of heart. I personally find the images sickening. Such a sad story that rocks me to the core of my soul.
Toy Skeleton - I added a toy skeleton to the inside. I often shop the Dollar Stores around Halloween for treasures like this to add to my pieces. I realize that a Dentist does not use a stethoscope, but I had one in my stash that was the perfect size for this little skellie, so I had to use it. LOL Stay with me - just pretend. LOL Our traveling doctor needs a Passport of course. I altered a tiny brass charm by painting it black and then rubbed off some of the paint to reveal the intricate gold emblem of the Passport. Our doctor seems to have plenty of cash to spare. The expense of such a trip for Trophy Hunting in Africa of this magnitude can cost as much or more than the average college tuition - $55, 000 + just for the hunting fee! I added shredded currency at his feet so that he can "take it all with him" so to speak.
Back - I constructed a compartment on the back of the piece to hold a mini album/booklet. I will add a separate photo to my gallery to show that in more detail if you are interested.
Here's a link to all the submissions to this swap. This is a fun annual swap and if you missed it this year, be sure to look for it again next year around Sept. 2016 if you'd like to join us.
Deb, I'm not familiar with this story but I'm glad you spotlighted it in this amazing creation. The details on your work always leaves me in awe ... so much thought and creativity!
p.s. I did the gallery thing you mentioned in your note ... still not working. :(

Mary Ann - thank you so much for visiting my gallery today and always leaving kind words. I'm not sure how you missed this story in the news. It was all over the news for a good while. Here's an easy way to catch up. Jimmy Kimmel posted a clip to YouTube that sums up the story in a nutshell. I agree with every point he mentions. You will understand my total disgust when you watch this short video. Please copy and paste the following link into your browser:
