It has been two weeks since my mom passed away and she is on my mind all the time. I received a beautiful Hallmark card with leaves and rippled water and spent time while walking the dog writing a haiku about how our lives ripple on, leaving lasting effect on all around us. Yesterday's Mixability challenge was to do a mixed media piece with leaves. I've combined these thoughts together on this card.
I started by making a wrinkle free distress panel. I smashed my blue ink pads onto a silicone craft sheet and then spritzed liberally with water. I laid my watercolor paper piece into the water, dried it, then dipped again getting the watery effect. I then inked my woodcut stamp with markers avoiding the thicker edge of the image. I did multiple stamping without reinking. I also inked with white and wiped off the edge of the image before stamping. I meant to stamp all my leaves in gray, but mistakenly used white ep over Slate and versamark the first time so then I purposely added another set of white leaves. For the grey, I inked first in Versamark then Slate then embossed with clear. I hand wrote my haiku. I added some drips of white.blue watery ink and then wiped off some, drying others. I used my white ink pad directly to the edges of the image piece.

So sorry for your loss! What a great piece of therapy you created. It worked well for me. . .to create when I was thinking of my Mom. . . I still think of her and miss her everyday. Take care and let your emotions flow. . . this is a beautiful expression. . .

Oh Gail I've been thinking about you...sending hugs. What a lovely and meaningful expression of your feelings...both the haiku and the beautiful MM bg. Take care....
