This was one of those cards where I had an idea of how I wanted it to look and it ended up being completely different! That said, I'm pleased with how it turned out. I tried water coloring the background but that turned into a mess so I ended up using sponge daubers. I used the blackberry bliss in the middle and went on a diagonal from there with the pink pirouette and the tempting turquoise. All of the elements are die cut or punched. I sponged the blackberry bliss on PP cardstock and punched the flowers randomly. This gave me a nice variety in tone and shade for the flowers. The bird is die cut and the edges sponged with turquoise. I like to do this on die cuts as I feel it adds depth.
After I assembled everything I thought the flowers needed something more so I added centers with a marker and the rhinestones which I had colored with Copic markers to match. (I may have gone a bit overboard with them.) With all the flowers, there are definitely more than four layers. I think there may be six or seven in some places.

Jeanne, you slowed me down while I was linking all the cards! I took one look at this card and had to stop and take it all in. So beautiful! Thanks for explaining how you got the incredible variation in the flowers--a trick I must try. Love the embellishments with the marker and the bling. Just an outstanding card--Love it!

Lovely card, and it is so cleaver that you did the unexpected and put the bird outside of the cage. The bg is so pretty and the flowers with the slight shade variation is stunning.

I have happily learnt two things looking at this gem. Firstly that your name is Jeanne, not Penny and secondly, that birds look much happier sitting outside their cage. Everything about this is wonderful.

I love the dreamy look you achieved with the sponge daubers!! What a great bg for your die cuts. I think your card turned out great and really uses the colors in a terrific way.
