Wow! What fabulous cakes! I was inspired by the colors & tropical theme of THIS cake.
The image was stamped first w/ Memento & colored with Copics. I wanted a real underwater look, so I added streaks for the water as if the sun were playing w/ the underwater shadows. Most of the blue/green streaks were done going right over the fish because the colors wonÂ’t be quite as bright when viewed under the water. I used a blender to gently remove a bit of color on the tops & faces of the fish before adding the other colors to them. I framed it using a hexagon frame & some peach die cut corners. The faux coral is die cut out of vellum & colored on the back side using a Copic. Stickles was added for sparkle & for the under water bubbles.
Thank so much for looking! Closeups & Copic colors are on my blog: The Write Stuff

Julie, you are such an amazing artist....please tell me that you are a professional artist who has taken countless art classes and has a doctorate in design to get this good, it would help me feel a little less jealous. The play of light and dark is pure genius, and using vellum for the coral looks fantastic. Pinned and faved.

I really love the underwater look you achieved with the streaky water and glittery bubbles! Your fish are beautifully coloured as is their coral and shell background. The way you brought the coral outside the scene is terrific. Love the contrast between the pinky coral colours and the blue greens. TFS

Beautiful card, Julie. Looks like one is gazing into an aquarium with your lovely underwater scene. The pink coral color was an excellent choice for an accent color with your aqua shades of blue.
