I'm sure the first thing our Erin (DGD) packed for Culinary School was her BLANKEY. It was made for her by her great Aunt Sheila, and she came home from the hospital wrapped in it. It has seen better days, of course, and been rebound over and over by me.
Her blankey doesn't have a pattern like this one, but this is the color. I'll send her this card today with a check in it for her incidentals.

What a sweet story to go with your pretty card, Anne! It looks lovely in that green gingham, and the mitred corners really add to the quilt effect.
I have a friend who says her now 9-year old son still uses the blanket I knit when he was born - I doubt if it will last till college, though!

Love the mitered corners!
(Awesome back story, Anne. I still have the crib quilt my grandmother made for me... I used it all through college, and am thinking to reconstruct it.)
