Lots of layering on this Mix-Ability card. Bottom layer was brown cardstock that I took gold thread and hand sewed at the top. Next layer is a black mulberry paper. On top of that is a brown paper bag that I stamped with music notes with black stazon and several mixed media images with distress ink. I gold heat embossed and sprayed with gold shimmer ink as well on this layer. Then there is burlap and cheesecloth. I added more mulberry paper to make the letters for HOPE stand out. The letters were done by gluing an encyclopedia page to a cereal box. I then distressed the encyclopedia page and used alphabet dies to cut out the letters to spell out HOPE. I fussy cut and shaped the butterfly and sunflower. Now to get to the mix-ability challenge part of my card. The faux barn board- for the crackle part of the challenge. I started with a strip of the cereal box. I used the walnut stain distress ink on the box. Then I smeared Elmer's glue over the top. I didn't thin it out, just took it straight from the bottle. While the glue was still wet, I put gold and white acrylic paint on top. I put the paint in little drops several places over the glue and using my fingers, I moved the paint over the surface of the glue. When I smear the paint I make sure that it stays on top of the glue- translation "use a very very light touch" to move the paint. As the glue and paint dry it cracks.
