My background started with Color Burst powders sprinkled and misted on watercolor paper. When dry, I laid a stencil over the panel and misted with water, then lifted the reactivated color with a paper towel roll. The branch was stamped over the background and then bleached (not a high contrast because it had been sitting for a couple of days).
