This is actually a graduation card for my nephew's wife. I posted a silly one earlier this week, but wanted to make her a more serious card. If it looks familiar, that's because it's a scanned image of a piece I did (that I can't bear to part with) a couple of years ago for the MIX12 challenge. You can see the original image here if you're interested in how I created it.
I scanned in the image, opened it in Photoshop, and added a layer for the sentiment. After it was printed on heavy weight cs, I added shimmer watercolor to the flowers, as I had on the original. Unfortunately, I got a bit heavy handed with it and couldn't scrub out as much as I liked. To brighten and deepen the color, I let the piece dry and went back over the flowers with a Spectrum Noir marker. I was a little concerned about putting it over the shimmer, but it worked beautifully with no ill effects to the marker. I outlined all of the original stamping and doodled a border around the image and touched a yellow Gelly Roll Stardust pen to the flower centers. The image was trimmed down and attached to the gray card base with Sookwang tape. I love how it turned out!
As always, thanks for looking!

It's a fabulous graduation card. What would we do without scanners and such? I'm sure it will be appreciated. Great background and gorgeous flowers.

Love your hybrid card, Jo! Brilliant idea to enhance the scan by adding artwork to it and adding the layer! The doodles around the edges really set it off beautifully! Thanks for the link to the original too!

Yikes, I love that you shared the original with us (I think we all have cards that we can't let go of!) This 'cool' background, created by so many special little touches of your fingers, and then the 'warm' flowers (heavy-handed with the shimmer, you say, but I think they are fabulous!) have all added up to a magnificent recreation of your original! Bravo, I say, Ms. Jody Lynn - another masterpiece!!

Jody, this is beautiful. A great idea to create prints of bgs, images, etc that one can't part with.....and I envy your "Photo Shop" expertise. Your nephew's wife will enjoy and treasure EVERY card that you make for her.
