This is my first ever stencil card!! I love all the birch tree cards I see, so when I saw the TLC challenge I new exactly what I was going to do. Of course, I didn't have time until Tuesday, so incorporated the fantastic colors from the color challenge into my card too. I didn't have the exact colors, but I tried to come as close as I could.
I water colored the background with re-inkers. Then I painted the stencil and laid it down just like the tutorial shows. I decided to go over the spaces in the trees with some white acrylic paint. Later I discovered that those trees are supposed to be really pale and the places I filled in with white are actually dark brown or black. Ooops! :0 I die cut my deer and put it on with Hercules glue. Then I stamped my sentiment and layered it on some black.
Thanks for taking a peek!
BTW, I would be grateful if anyone has any tips using stencils. I tore my cleaning it! :(

I don't think it matters in the least that your trees are darker than birch trees; they look really great as they are. What a beautiful woodland scene.

Great birch trees Geni! The added white is perfect and I love the CC colors as your sky and ground bg . That sentiment goes so well with this scene. Fabulous card...couldn't tell it was your first time using stencils.
I don't have any tips about stencils but maybe you could put that topic on the Tools forum..I bet you'd get some good answers.

Beautiful card, love the sponged sky and the trees are perfect! I'm having the same problem with this stencil and the TH sunburst stencil. It's so easy to snag these when you're cleaning them. I'm going to try soaking them in soapy water and letting them air dry when I'm done. That doesn't help when you're changing colors though.

What a wonderful job you have done on your first stencil card. The background sunset/sunrise is beautiful. I have only done one stencil card too - and love it - can't wait to do some more.
