I love the monoprint technique and using with either a stencil or an embossing folder. Yesterday, I made a punch of bgs using different inks and embossing folders. I inked up the top side of the ef with crushed curry, spritzed with water and laid my mixed media paper down. Next, I decided to burn my edges with a lighter and very wet paper towels to put the fire out...once I got the burned look I wanted. For the ribbon....definitely one of my favorite things to do is to distress my ribbon by burning it with heat gun...so I did! I embossed the blue dp and then sanded it some to get the white core to show through and distressed the edges. The yellow piece is on dimensionals. The bird was in my discarded pile and I thought it went well. The sentiment was stamped on yellow dp, punched out and then the rose image and sentiment I put some versamark and UTEE on to achieve a wet look.

Lovely! Very clever to burn the inside edges - I'll have to remember to try that. I have lots of fun 'bending' ribbon. It's addictive! Thanks so much for playing my challenge.

A cute card. I love the ribbon burned with the heat gun. The first time I did it by accident, I liked it after that. We were on the same page today with the yellow/ black colors and burnt edges.

Love your card, Pam. The dark blue embossed bg with the yellow top panel gives it a celestial feeling to me....sequins being the stars. I'll have to try a heat gun on the ribbon next time....seems a lot safer than an open flame.
