For Dina's MIX116 Fill It In challenge.
I had started this mixed media background last night, and today I was going to add red poppies to it. Instead, I added my bird. But only because I was so focussed on all the masking and working out the position on a plain piece of watercolour wash background that I forgot to remove some of the ink before I stamped the bird the first time. That's another card waiting to be made...
So, I did all my careful positioning again and this time remembered to wipe off the ink on the bird's breast!
For the base - it was some watercolour paper that had huge splashes of masking fluid on it, so I washed it with Twinkling H2Os in gold, yellows and green. Then I used some gesso through the diamond stencil, and then I used Lee-Anne's stencil monoprint technique to stamp the art deco leaves. I'd never been happy with this stencil till last week, when, totally inspired by Lee-Anne, I had tried stamping with it.
So this morning, I stamped the bird, embossed with clear EP, masked, stamped and embossed the treble clef, stamped the sentiment. I added some little leaves along the treble clef and coloured the bird with Twinkling H2Os, and then went for coffee with a neighbour while it dried. I ran a tracing wheel round the edges for a little definition, layered it onto corrugated card stamped with the treble clef in green, and then used a yellow card base, sponged with Mustard Seed to deepen the colour a bit for a better match with my mixed media panel.
Oh - my filling in part? I used little music notes to fill in the blank part of the bird's breast. Sorry, I'm just not a doodler!!

Another gorgeous and totally unique card. I love the music note bird breast. I would do that every time I used this stamp... it looks better than tge way this stamp is origionally . Fantastiv card.
Oh,love how you finished the bird with the notes, like music dripping out of his bill! LOL. I am saving your description, because I had bought the h2os and the masking fluid and haven't used them yet! Beautiful card, Sabrina!

Sabrina, this is beautiful in every way! I love the treble clef (with the leaf vine) as a perch for this joyous bird. The music notes are perfectly placed and the quote is beautiful! Wonderful texture in the layers and background.
