This card was made for the Ways to Use It Thursday Challenge, WT527 (4/16/15). The challenge was to make a card using watercolor background somewhere on the card.
I chose to have the watercolor background appear twice on my card - as part of the image panel and as a background layer. Since my craft time was limited today, I used pieces out of my stash of watercolored backgrounds that I made last fall.
The technique I used to make the watercolor background was to rub distress inks onto a non-stick craft sheet, spritz it with water and then smooched the watercolor paper into the ink. I used two different tyes of watercolor paper - one was smooth texture (hot press), and the other had a rougher texture (I think it was cold press...it was the more common kind).
This card didn't end up being anything like I envisioned. It started out very simple and then morphed into a forest of die cut tendrils surrounding the circle panel. And then a black cs layer was added to ground the cluster of tendrils. At this point, I decided that all that black looked kind of somber, so I pulled out the bling to add some sparkle... a lot of sparkle.
It was so fun to finally use some of the watercolor background paper that I made a while back. If you haven't tried your hand at making this stuff, give it a try. It's fun and messy and the result is totally unpredictable - a stamper's delight!
Thanks for popping by to look at my blingy watercolor silhouettes!

I love your morph, Susy! I also love the way the black focuses my attention to the lovely bird on branch image. Your complete card is pleasantly singular!
