I was delighted to read that the Ways To Use It Thursday Challenge, WT527 (4/16/15) was to use watercolored background somewhere on a card. This was the perfect opportunity to use a watercolor background image panel that I had leftover from a project awhile back. It was begging to be used!
As I recall when I made the original watercolor background, I started with a piece of regular cardstock and sponged distress inks (tumbled China blue and shaded Lilac). It looked really blah at that point so I flicked water droplets off my fingertips and it left huge white spolches. Since the spolches looked like clouds, I decided it was the perfect backdrop for the delicate bird & branch silhouette stamp. I die cut the shape after stamping.
To the square card base, I popped up a 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" panel, dry embossed with a dainty cloud design (Darice), and tied with a strand of black/white bakers twine. The bird panel was also popped up with Dimensionals, as was the cloud die with the sentiment. To finish, I added three wee clear rhinestones to add a bit of sparkle.
I'm so happy you stopped by to look at my birds in the branches. Thank you muchly!
