My friend Christine (calex on SCS) came over and we started some mixed media backgrounds together. She brought her Distress paints and we laid down a layer of them first. Then I put a stencil over it and embossed with paste. After she left, I started playing with adding more to the base layer. For this card, I laid down a thin layer of gesso to tone the paint down a bit, then spritzed with two shades of Fireworks sprays - lime and teal (two of my friend Jo-Anne's favourite colours). I then cut out a poppy die on watercolour paper and painted it (using orange - Jo-Anne's other favourite colour). I created a frame for it in ivory cs and sponged the frame with a bit of Antique Linen ink. I put it together with a bit of the flower coming out of the frame, added a sentiment, and it's ready to post for her birthday next week.

Susan it's gorgeous, I love the colours and textures. The poppies extending out of the frame is the perfect accent to the BG and the frame. It is always fun seeing the end result. This looks nothing like the sheet I saw when I left.

Gorgeous. Love the texture and colours of that beautiful background Susan. Those poppies just pop off the blue. Thanks for playing along at Happy Little Stampers. xx
