This is my card for Sabrina's WT526 Challenge " April Showers (and more)" - Since this is April - we will have a showery gallery this week! But don't worry; if you don't want rain - think of adding to your stash by making a card suitable for baby showers or bridal showers, or even using some type of spray/mister on your card.
I needed a card for a bridal shower this week and this challenge worked out perfectly. The shower background was created by masking the sentiment area on a piece of A2 size white heavy cs and aligning the stencil at a slight angle. I tinted iridescent modeling cream with Distress Chipped Sapphire and Stormy Sky distress inks; it basically just looks silver. After applying the paste through the stencil and letting it dry, I used Susie's technique of applying distress ink to my craft mat, misting heavily, and applying the diluted ink with a sponge blending tool. It worked great - I love the varied colors I got for the sky.
I cut the flower border and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers, and printed the computer-generated sentiment on a matching piece of white cs. I trimmed it to fit and attached it to the layer with Sookwang tape. The flower border diecut was aligned above the sentiment and attached with Sookwang tape at the bottom and tiny pieces of craft foam behind the flowers and some of the leaves. The metallic cord was placed over the seam and taped on the back of the layer. I tacked it down across the front with Multi Medium, and used it to attach the bow, as well. The layer was attached to the card base with Sookwang tape before I highlighted the flower centers with Stickles.
The sentiment says "April (bridal) Showers bring..." The inside of the card says "May brides!"
As always, thanks for looking!

SO pretty and eye catching with its bright, cheery border of flowers bolstered by the moisture of the silvery raindrops. Those raindrops and the sky are very clever. The bride to be will love this....great sentiment btw

Yay, it's great when a challenge works with a current need. I bet that gentle April shower must look fabulous in real life, I have done iridescent paste and I know they really shimmer. Your beautiful floral border is obviously benefiting from the rain!!
